Partners have developed implementation plans which transfer GPs providing future lake planning tools. Implementation plans will contribute to targeting environmental objectives of the Water Framework Directive (WFD) at regional and local level. Results of the project may encourage other regional or local authorities in the country to adopt similar plans or good practices relevant to them. The implementation plans highlight the opportunities at local/regional level and the importance of lake management in improving lake necological status with benefits also for biodiversity maintenance and landscape management. The preparation of implementation plans creates a forum for regional and local stakeholders to get involved in ‘lake management’ and ‘catchment area development’.
