2-3 October 2014, Palazzo Dosi, Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, Rieti, Italy
The project would like to welcome you to attend the LakeAdmin Closing Conference on 2-3 October 2014 in the city of Rieti, Italy, after years of project cooperation on lake restoration questions.
The economic values of clean and safe water are well established. Lakes, ponds and reservoirs can provide water for drinking, irrigation, recreation, tourism, fish, natural and cultural values and other ecosystem services. In spite of remarkable investments in wastewater treatment, status of many waters is still under pressure of external loading from diffuse sources. Internal loading of a lake and changes in food-web structure also affect the water status. These problems can be tackled by management and restoration measures of lakes.
The project Regional administration of lake restoration initiatives - LakeAdmin (2012–2014) aims to improve the effectiveness of regional development policies related to water management, especially in the field of lake, pond and reservoir restoration; in order to:
1. Share and transfer good practices for better water status and improved usability of lakes,
2. Mainstream programmes in each participating region by developing tangible Implementation Plans which help to adopt good practices
3. Compile a data base for cases of lake restoration in the European area.
We hope that the Conference will provide you with an excellent opportunity to hear latest information on the results of LakeAdmin, and to give response to the project participants for the final phase of the project until late 2014.
LakeAdmin, coordinated by the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE), has 10 partners in 9 EU countries cross European Union regions.
